  15. How do I take tests?
  1. Is the distance degree different from the on-campus program?
The outreach degree is the same as the on-campus degree in accreditation, content, expectations and appearance. Diplomas are also the same as the ones earned on campus. The degree earned is a Master of Accountancy. Distance students are required and expected to meet high academic standards in the same manner as our on-campus students. Distance students follow the same academic calendar as on-campus students.
  2. How long does it usually take to complete the program?
Depending on the class load taken, the program can be completed in as little as two years or spread out to a maximum of five years. The average outreach student is working full time while taking classes.
  3. How does the distance program work?
  4. Which semester must I enroll in the program?
Students may enroll in the program fall, spring or summer semesters.
  5. Which standardized exam is required as part of the application process and when should I take it?
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required. We do not accept the GRE. Students should take the GMAT exam early enough to ensure that their official scores are received by Auburn University by the application deadline for the desired semester of enrollment. Official scores are usually received by the university within three weeks from the exam date.
  6. How long is the application review process?
Once all application materials are received, the application review process is usually within one to two weeks.
  7. Is there a suggested number of classes to take each semester?
Students working full-time should take no more than two classes (six credit hours) each fall and spring semester. Because summer courses are offered during five-week mini-sessions, students should take no more than one class (three credit hours) per mini-session.
  8. Do I have to come to campus?
Only one campus visit is required. A four and one-half day on-campus residency occurs in the last semester of a student's program. The on-campus residency consists of students participating in the required Capstone Case Analysis project. All MAc graduates must participate in the on-campus residency which begins the last Thursday in April.
  9. How much does the program cost?
30 semester credit hours @ $632 per credit hour = +/-$18,960. Students are responsible for their own travel, meals, and hotel accommodations while participating in the on-campus residency. The program cost is the same for both in-state and out-of-state students. The fee per semester credit hour is subject to change with the approval of the Auburn University Board of Trustees on an annual basis.
  10. Is there financial assistance available for Distance students?
Distance students may apply for student loans through Auburn University's Financial Aid office at http://www.auburn.edu/student_info/
    student_affairs/finaid/index.html.
Students must be enrolled for at least two courses (six credit hours) to be eligible for student loans.
  11. How do I get my books?
You may order the required texts from the Auburn University Bookstore, J & M Bookstore or Anders Bookstore (two local private book retailers). You may also order books from any national source. 14. What are the minimum admission requirements to the Auburn MAc Program?
We do not advertise minimum admission requirements. The MAc Program Admissions Committee takes a holistic approach when reviewing a candidate's application package. The Committee considers a candidate's academic background, letters of recommendation, grade point averages, GMAT scores, work experience, campus and community involvement, etc. The TOEFL is required for students that do not hold an accredited undergrad degree from a U.S. College or University, and international candidates must have studied accounting in the U.S.
